A Sound BATH?

When we think of a bath, we imagine slipping into a tub of warm, bubbly water, perhaps filled with epsom salts or essential oils, candles lit around us and even soft, soothing music playing… feelings of peace, tranquility and relaxation arise within us as we become immersed in the experience, forgetting the outside world and silencing our mind chatter altogether.

This is exactly what we experience when we have a sound healing or sound BATH… except, honestly, as anyone who has experienced one will say - it is SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL. We are immersed, in the vibration, of whichever sound instruments are being orchestrated for the healing session. The sound waves (vibration) WASH over us and through us, calming the nervous system and the mind (by entraining our brain waves) and our entire bodies feel as if they are floating (as many of my clients have described).

Ancient cultures from Greece to Ghana, from Ireland to Austrailia, from Tibet to the Native North & South Americas and everywhere in between- indigenous people from around the world have all used sound as a healing modality, a path to trance and meditation, an avenue to expanding consciousness. There are many different instruments that can be used in a sound healing or sound bath session. There are drums, rattles, crystal or metal singing bowls, didgeredoo, flutes, gongs, chimes and many others. Today, people from every culture and religious background, all around the world, are rediscovering the power of sound and vibration through experiencing a sound bath or healing session.

Neuroscience and Quantum Physics now provide data to support what people are feeling. But do we need the science to know how powerful sound is? Think about when you are stuck in traffic, in a bad mood and you suddenly hear your favorite, upbeat song on the radio- almost instantly it has the ability to shift your mood. Think about when you are studying and are listening to classical music, how you are focused and calm. Conversely, think about sounds that are loud, abrasive and repetitive - like construction work or sirens and how irritated or even startled and anxious you can feel.

Sound is one of the most powerful forces of nature. Ancient and indigenous people knew this instinctively because they were intimately connected to nature, the earth and the elements. We are coming back to our original wisdom, slowly but surely. If you want to experience what a sound bath feels like first hand, reach out to me and we will schedule a session, for you alone or with a small group.

Sending love to all,
